President's Message

For my 1^st anniversary message as President of Diabetic Society of Singapore (DSS), I wish to express thanks to our Chairman, Dr. Warren Lee, MP for Sembawang GRC, and all Management Committee members for their valuable advice and contribution. My sincere thanks also go to all our members, volunteers and donors who help us in one way or another.

In the last twelve months, we have actively promoted DSS to the general public through World Diabetes Day, and other activities comprising outreach programmes, community health fairs, public forums and cooking classes.

We have also just participated in the Jurong Health Connect as one of their service providers to improve health care in Jurong. This network not only serves residents but also the working population from the Jurong Industrial Estate. We shall continue to work on joint projects and share resources with other Volunteer Welfare Organizations, Community Development Councils and government agencies to promote diabetes awareness.

On behalf of DSS, we would like to thank Ms Wendy Chan who initiated Cycling for Diabetes charity events to raise funds for DSS. Special thanks also to Mr. Zainul Abidin Rasheed, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Mayor for North East CDC, Dr. Amy Khor Lean Suan, Mayor for south West CDC and MP for Hong Kah GRC, for officiating the event. The event was supported by CDANS Country Club, Lions Club of Singapore district 308A-1 and Lions Club of Singapore Metropolitan. To date, we have raised more than $15,000.

I pledge to serve DSS with my utmost efforts and we shall count on your continual support!
