The Sound of Change

We have seen many changes in the past year and last three months of 2006.

One of them is the fresh new look of DMLife. We hope you enjoy its friendly approach. We want to invite readers to come forward with their stories - their struggles and successes - to encourage other members in the same situation and those who have yet to join DSS.

Help is now available for needy patients with diabetes. The society set up a Financial Assistance Programme funded by Lee Foundation last year. Patients referred to us by medical volunteer workers may obtain financial aid from DSS for monthly screening, free test strips, insulin and medicine. Call our hotline to find out more 64506132.

Change is also rumbling at Jurong West Street 52. Our Sembawang-Hong Kah DECC is now under renovation. By June 2006, it will have an additional level for screening and counseling. Look out for more programmes and activities for residents and patients!

One thing has not changed though. The society has not forgotten its mission since it was founded in 1971. We want to enhance the quality of life for our members and provide a comprehensive novice for managing diabetes. By keeping diabetes under control, you can prevent, delay or reduce major complications such as eye disease, heart attack, stroke, kidney failure, nerve damage and even foot amputation.

Best wishes for a healthy life tomorrow and happy reading!
